The Heart and Stroke Foundation’s Walkabout program is proud to support the SOLD OUT Sole Sisters Women’s Race . This event celebrates the strength of female walkers and runners and the lifelong friendships developed through participating in physical activity.
Males are encouraged to volunteer at the race in lots of fun capacities or cheer along the route and join the post-race party. This race is to celebrate women but we still want guys involved in helping and celebrating! The race will take place Saturday, June 7th at 6pm at Dartmouth Crossing.

WOW what a day! Thank you to all Nova Scotians who made a personal commitment to walk on Wednesday, May 14th to celebrate Nova Scotia Walk Day. If you walked but didn’t register on our website don’t worry – we’ve kept registration open until tonight (Friday) at midnight. Individuals who register their walk online are also entered into a draw for Walkabout prizing.

International Trails Day is an annual celebration of trails to promote trail development, the use of trails and the healthy lifestyle they encourage. It is celebrated each year on the first Saturday in June. This year we celebrate International Trails Day on Saturday, June 7, 2014. We encourage the public to join in the fun and participate in International Trails Day events taking place across the province. Look for events in your community.

We are calling on all Nova Scotians to unite through walking as part of our second annual Nova Scotia Walk Day, May 14.
Whether at your workplace, with your family or by yourself, we’re asking you to make a personal commitment to walk at least 10 minutes on May 14 to support your health while discovering the joyful side of walking!
Join the Hon. Leo Glavine, Minister of Health and Wellness and Menna MacIsaac, Nova Scotia CEO, Heart and Stroke Foundation, as they host a walk in Downtown Halifax:
Where: Halifax Waterfront, by the Wave
When: 2:00 pm – 2:30 pm
If you are in another community in the province, visit www.walkaboutns.ca and create a walk in your community or join a walk already happening.
Nova Scotia Walk Day uses the success of Walkabout to bring together communities and individuals from across the province to participate in a walk and celebrate the joyful side of walking.

52 Week Challenge! There will be one health related challenge per week for the next 52 weeks.
Here’s how it works:
To view the weekly challenge, like us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/walkaboutns or request that you be added to distribution list so that the weekly challenges will be sent to you via e-mail. (once a month)
Each week, complete the weekly challenge and let us know by commenting on our FB page or sending us an e-mail to [email protected] You have until Sunday at midnight to complete the weekly challenge and let us know.
If there are some people in your walking group, or friends and family, who don’t use the internet, but completed the weekly challenge – feel free to submit their name as well.
Complete all four challenges during the month and you will have four entries into the monthly draw. Complete 2 and you will have 2 entries into the prize draw.
At the end of the 52 weeks – there will be a grand prize draw. The more weekly challenges you completed – the more entries into the draw.
Share the weekly challenge with Walkabout groups, co-workers, family and friends. People can start at any time during the year.
