Share your favourite walking route and win
Halifax, NS - The Heart and Stroke Foundation wants Nova Scotians to share their favourite walking route as part of its strategy to encourage and support physical activity across the province and in the process have a chance to win walking prize packages valued at $300.
"Part of the goal of Walkabout is to provide opportunities to support and encourage walking," said Fran Dunn, Physical Activity Coordinator with the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. "One of the ways we're doing this is by encouraging walking enthusiasts to capture and share popular Nova Scotian walking trails and routes which can be discovered, accessed, and enjoyed by everyone."
Participants are asked to map, name and photograph their favourite walking route before posting it to the website (www.walkaboutns.ca). Those who share their favourite walking route on Heart&Stroke WalkaboutTM and email [email protected] between Monday, August 17th and Sunday, September 13th have the chance to win one of five walking prize packages valued at $300. The prize packages, courtesy of Nova Scotia Egg Producers and Walkabout, include and extra-large hiking back pack, a Walkabout fleece jacket, an iPod ShuffleTM, Yak Trax Walkers, and a Walkabout pedometer. For more information visit www.walkaboutns.ca or call Fran Dunn at 423-7682 ext. 316.
Heart&Stroke WalkaboutTM is a comprehensive approach to increasing walking in the province. It includes an interactive website for step-tracking, a pedometer lending program, and a social marketing campaign focused on the benefits of walking. The initiative is led by the Foundation in partnership with the Nova Scotia Department of Health Promotion and Protection and the Ecology Action Centre. Walkabout is supported by Pfizer, the presenting sponsor, Nova Scotia Department of Health, Pharmasave and Great-West Life.
